Resources For Usability and Analytics

Most of my recent blog attempts have died on the vine so I am going to share with you some of my favorite new and long time resources:

Steve Krug presentation on super-cheap usability. I suggest listening to it twice once today and once next week. If you haven’t capitalized on at least one of his suggestions in that week you should hire a professional.

A wire frame of the Google Analytics interface. I’m sure you are already an Analytics Cowboy, but check it out when you click on the links it adds in more information about the selection.

The User Effect. If only Dr. Pete blogged more. But, who am I to complain? There is some great stuff there go check him out.

I also suggest taking a step away from your computer and looking at how other things work. Bring aethetics or perspectives that you use in other areas of your life to the way that you think about the functions and data you have on/from your website will help you get a better understanding of how to accomplish your goals.

I noticed that you changed the design and layout of your site. I like it much better than before. Especially on your home page with the rotating pictures and post topics. I think it adds a little flavor to the site.

I think the last suggestion you made in this post about taking a step back and thinking about the aesthetics is a great idea, and it seems its advice you’ve taken yourself.

Nice little post. I also noticed the Google Analytics wireframe site offers a free PDF download with linking. I found it helpful for a meeting I had to do without connectivity.
